As a mom of 3 under 5 I am always looking for ways to keep my older two occupied so that I can get things done. While I’m not against screen time and honestly I absolutely love me some Bluey any day of the week - I try to come up with activities that don’t involve technology. What I have found is that when I let my kids play and there’s not a screen involved - they can be soooooo creative and I love to foster that natural creativity. With that being said I’m also on a limited budget and so I have to get creative with things I can find around the house. One fun activity I have found that my girls love is what I call toddler sorting which is basically just where you take cereal and an empty egg carton and pour the cereal into the top lid of the egg carton. Depending on what type of cereal you use there are a lot of activities that can be done with these two items. The last time I set this activity up I used a version of fruity pebbles cereal.

Now, don’t get me wrong - this activity can be somewhat messy so I would advise sticking to the kitchen when having your kids do it BUT my kids tend to love it. The last time I set it up I encouraged my girls to try and seperate the different color pieces into seperate egg places.

This activity can serve multiple different purposes depending on the cereal you use and can be an aid for things like learning colors, counting, etc. the set up and clean up is super easy and can keep kids entertained while giving you time to get things done around the house and a bonus - kids also get a snack while playing!
